Bridport residents are being asked for their views on plans for the future management of Jellyfields and Bothenhamptom Nature Reserve.
Ownership of the two beauty spots will soon be transferred from Dorset Council to Bridport Town Council.
They are working with Bothenhampton and Walditch Parish Councils to produce new 10-year management plans for the two important wildlife sites.
Will Austin is Bridport's Town Clerk, he told Wessex FM it will be good for the local community to have more control.
"We're looking to gain control, largely because we have a larger infrastructure.
"We have our own outdoor team and access to contractors if needed to help maintain the nature reserves, whereas the parish councils are smaller organisations.
